I have defined brand into my own definition: "The definition of brand, is a company who sells a wide selection of goods using either a symbol, typeface or a style, to give the audience or seller to recognize their products or purchase." Examples of brands can be company's such as "Apple inc", "Windows", "adidas", "SONY", these brands are world wide known and set up in over 5 continents. Branding, is when something is labelled and known for which it is by its company. Slogans can be used in branding such as company's like Marks and Spencers, e.g "This isn't just any chocolate pudding, its a Marks and Spencers chocolate pudding". This makes the buying recognise the company when ever the advert is played without even showing a logo or the company's name.
A trademark is a distinctive sign or indicator used by an individual, business organization, or other legal entity to identify that the products or services to consumers with which the trademark appears originate from a unique source, and to distinguish its products or services from those of other entities. A product identity, or brand image are typically the attributes one associates with a brand, how the brand owner wants the consumer to perceive the brand and by extension the branded company, organization, product or service. The brand owner will seek to bridge the gap between the brand image and the brand identity. Effective brand names build a connection between the brand personality as it is perceived by the target audience and the actual product/service. The brand name should be conceptually on target with the product/service. Furthermore, the brand name should be on target with the brand demographic.
